Not been near my desk in a week

I've gone a nearly a whole week without touching anything on my desk. My shift pattern for the next few weeks isn't going to help me either. The sea vixen has recovered from It's mishap with the scalpel. I was opening up the slots for the underwing pylons, one of them is very close to the leading edge and the wing fold part. Well let's just say it slipped and I was left with a big hole. I wouldn't mind but I even drilled some holes first so all I had to do was widen the gap !

Lesson learned ( I hope ! )

Details

This is the airbrake bay and actual airbrake. Just waiting for the white paint to dry then I'm going to give it a nice wash.

What a joy !

This is a lovely kit to work on. The cockpit is mostly together. The main colour is Tamiya xf69 NATO black and the detail work was done with vallejo paints. Dry brushing with neutral grey and the panel dials had a drop of satin gloss to represent the glass.

It's a monster

Wow ! Just had my first proper look at the sea vixen. If this is what airfix are going to produce from now on I'm a very happy bunny. The detail is nicely done. The cockpit seems to have a nice level of detail, not to sure about the seats yet. One look at the nose cone tells you this is a big aircraft.

I've had enough of fighting with it.

Wish a tornado would come and blow this away

I've got to the stage where everytime I do or add something, I ruin what I've done before. The boz pod is about to go in the bin. I've managed to mould some milliput to make a skyshadow pod. Just to top it all off I think the landing gear is the wrong colour. Grrrrrr !

Retail therapy

I decided to brave the shops yesterday with a trip to Lakeside. I got some modelzone vouchers for Christmas and needed (yes ! needed) to spend them. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of different manufactures that they stock now. The usual suspects were there but also some Eduard, Dragon and Roden.

I picked up a few kits, all 1/72.

  • Revell Gloster Gladiator
  • Airfix Hawk T MK1A
  • Italeri Starfighter
  • Revell F16B Fighting Falcon (Only £4.99 in the sale)

I also got a few paints and some more masking tape.

The big bonus being that i walked out with some money left.
