Back to the old girl

I'm back on the sea vixen after finding some more articles in old modelling magazines. I've just got a few bits to attach then it'll be time for some paint.

The desk

I am back

It's been a long while since I've posted anything on here. So this is just a bit of a test from my i pad.

I have finally managed to get my grubby mitts on the Airfix Valiant, a plane which my grandad worked on during his national service. My nan is in the process of sorting some photos and papers relating to his time on Christmas island during operation grapple. No prizes for guessing which markings it's going to be finished in.

On the desk at the moment are the Monogram B17G in 1/48, the Airfix Trident in 1/144 ( a first for me ) and the very nice Italeri Mig 29UB in 1/72nd scale.

Busy busy

I've been a busy bee lately. Unfortunately most if my time is taken up at work at the moment.

Back to the old girl

Sitting down last night watching saving private ryan, I suddenly had an urge to get the sea vixen out and see where I'd left it at last time. All the insides and bays were painted but not stuck in place, so out came the glue and in it all went. I'd already decided even before the kit was released that I was going to have the wings folded. The relevant wing fold bits were stick in and the booms were put on both sides.

Just swapped this

A rather large kit with all the trimmings. A verlinden etched set, paragon resin flaps, bomb bay and crew doors also in the box are some extra decals, eduard masks and some reference material. I swapped it for a 1/48 hasegawa ark royal phantom of which I have two.

Lightning finished

Here is my lightning F.6, finished as 'JS' xr728 the personal mount of group capt John Spencer. The kit is the 1/72 revell version, the decals were from the spares box and kit stencils. I only added some etched belts and the yellow azimuth aerials on top of the fuselage spine.
